With the departing Caleb Williams watching from the sideline, Miller Moss threw a Holiday Bowl-record six touchdown passes in his first college start and USC football ended a difficult season by beating No. 16 Louisville 42-28 on Wednesday night.

Moss finished with 372 passing yards and a whopping six TDs, which is USC's bowl game record.  The record came late in the third quarter when Moss lobbed a 12-yard pass to a leaping Ja'Kobi Lane in the back of the end zone. Lane's second TD catch of the night gave USC a 35-21 lead.

It seemed to be a ‘passing of the torch' moment for USC football, and Williams and Miller seemed to understand that fact, sharing an embrace after the game, courtesy of Antonio Morales of The Athletic:

The sophomore QB only threw one interception alongside his barrage of touchdown passes. Moreover, he was a significant contributor to USC football's 443-yard offensive display against Louisville. Moss was not the only one on fire during the matchup. The Trojans defense forced two fumbles and held the Cardinals to 141 passing yards.

Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner and presumptive first overall pick in the NFL draft, watched from the sideline wearing a white T-shirt with his No. 13 jersey hanging around his neck. Williams jumped on Moss in celebration after the redshirt sophomore twice took a knee in USC football's victory formation at Petco Park.

Louisville was favored by seven points over USC football headed into Wednesday's game. After a tough season, the Trojans managed to finish strong and may have found that they already have their next great quarterback in Miller Moss.
