Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens has said he will not return to the state of Indiana to coach the hometown Hoosiers men's basketball team. Vegas doesn't believe him.

Stevens-to-Indiana has reportedly been removed as a betting prop:

Indiana relieved former head coach Archie Miller of his duties earlier this week. There had been some speculation Brad Stevens could be the Hoosiers' next head coach, given he grew up in Indiana and had tremendous past success as head coach of the Butler Bulldogs.

Is something happening behind the scenes?

There were some oddities earlier on Friday that likely caused a mini-meltdown on Hoosiers Twitter.

Dave Dameshek took to Twitter to suggest Stevens would be announced as Indiana's next head coach on Friday. Meanwhile, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reported it appeared to be a normal day for the Celtics as they prepare for a showdown with the Sacramento Kings. Goodman spoke to a source who claimed the team would be “shocked” if Stevens left for Indiana, and he followed that up with this:

It would be quite odd for Stevens to basically announce he was up and leaving, especially with the Celtics desperately searching for momentum.

Boston enters Friday night's game with a 20-20 mark, and the struggles in the first half prompted some murmurings Celtics management might look to shake things up at the end of the season.

But Brad Stevens himself has openly said he is not interested in the Indiana job. Is it really a smoke screen? Or has the hype simply become too overpowering?

The latter seems more likely at this stage.
