After the Sacramento Kings defeated the Houston Rockets on Monday in thrilling fashion, general manager Vlade Divac and shooting guard Buddy Hield shared a funny moment together in the hallway.

Divac told Hield, “I had to pay you!” If you recall, Hield and the Kings initially had trouble agreeing upon a rookie-scale extension. The two sides eventually came to terms on a four-year, $94 million contract:

The Kings improved to 10-13 on the season after defeating the Rockets in Houston. Hield finished with 26 points on the night while shooting 10-of-19 from the floor and 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.

Overall on the season, Hield is averaging 21.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. He's shooting 42.3 percent from the field, 37.2 percent from the 3-point line and 85.2 percent from the charity stripe.

The Kings are still playing without point guard De'Aaron Fox and big man Marvin Bagley III, which makes their 10-13 record look even better considering how rugged the Western Conference is. The King are trying to make the playoffs this season for the first time since 2006. That's also the last season Sacramento had a winning record.

It's good that Divac, Hield and the Kings were able to get a deal done, as Hield would have likely signed a richer contract in restricted free agency, one which Sacramento might not have been able to match.
