Expectations and the pressure on the Minnesota Vikings will be dialed up this year after an underwhelming 2020 season. Head coach Mike Zimmer knows this and the Vikings will look to start fast in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Zimmer has never been one to mince words and via Courtney Cronin of ESPN, he spoke to his concerns with a lack of depth on the Vikings roster entering the season.

“It’s concerning. I feel really good about the top guys, and then some of these young guys got to come on. But when you’re kind of top-heavy with finances, that’s what you’ve got to do. Hopefully we’ll stay healthy, and try to get these younger guys better”

The head coach for the Vikings clearly isn't comfortable with how the roster filled out from a depth perspective. Zimmer is known for being a defensive minded coach and it was the defense that struggled mightily for Minnesota a year ago.

They did well in adding cornerback Patrick Peterson in the offseason and Danielle Hunter and Michael Pierce will both be back up front on the defensive line after missing the 2020 season. Still, Zimmer seems to have his doubts.

Minnesota will try and compete for the division crown but taking down the Green Bay Packers won't be easy with Aaron Rodgers back in the fold and under center.

It's a critical year for Zimmer and some believe with another lackluster season in terms of wins and losses that Zimmer could end up on the hot seat.
