It's that point in the offseason where teams are solidifying their quarterbacks, and the Minnesota Vikings are doing just that. After the Vikings' huge deal with Kirk Cousins, the team re-signed quarterback Sean Mannion to be his backup for another year.

NFL reporter Tom Pelissero tweeted the news Tuesday morning.

This will be Mannion's fourth season with the Vikings. He joined the squad in April of 2019. Mannion was the backup for two seasons before signing with the Seattle Seahawks in July of 2021. However, he was only with the team for the offseason before returning to Minnesota to be Cousins' backup for the 2021-2022 season.

Since returning to the Vikings, Mannion hasn't had to play much. Cousins has stayed relatively healthy the past two years. However, like many players throughout the league, the quarterback missed one game due to COVID-19. He was unable to play in the Vikings' Week 17 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Mannion got the green light, and, despite the 37-10 loss, threw his first NFL touchdown pass.

According to Pelissero, the quarterbacks have a solid relationship, which is great for the team moving forward. Cousins just signed a massive one-year, $35 million contract with the Vikings. The deal includes a $25 million signing bonus and $35 million guaranteed, per Spotrac.

The quarterback duo is staying the same, but the Vikings are hoping that this season turns out better than last. The team finished below .500 with a record of 8-9 and missed the postseason tournament for the second year in a row.
