The Wilf family of the Minnesota Vikings is reportedly a “serious candidate” to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA.

As reported by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter, Vikings majority owner Zygi Wilf and his family are interested in buying the franchise from Glen Taylor, who has made the team available for sale earlier on Tuesday.

According to reports, Taylor has given an asking price of at least $1.2 billion for the Timberwolves. Aside from the Wilf family, other parties have shown interest to purchase the franchise, including a group of investors headed by team legend Kevin Garnett.

As ESPN reported it, however, it looks like the Wilfs are the most likely candidates to secure the NBA team. The family bought the Vikings franchise in 2005 for $600 million and has grown their investment to five times, given that the current value of the team is now well over $3 billion.

Zygi is the team's principal owner, while his brother Mark is the president. Their cousin Leonard is the team's vice chairman. These three Vikings execs are said to be spearheading negotiations with the current Timberwolves owner.

How will the Wilf family manage two championship-hungry teams in the Twin Cities if they land the Timberwolves? Fans we'll have to wait and see.

While most fans certainly want KG and his group to buy the NBA franchise, it is also interesting to see the Vikings and Wolves under one umbrella.
