Golden State Warriors star forward Draymond Green recently missed out on being named a starter for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. Oddly enough, it was due to the vote by players and media rather than the fans.

Despite being well-regarded as one of the best all-around players in the league, it was not enough to crack the starting lineup for the representatives from the Western Conference. However, Green did not seem to be too perturbed by the whole ordeal, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“It's dope. I appreciate all the fans. I didn't really expect any players to vote for me,” Green said with a laugh.

Green added that he does not think the player voting was taken seriously, to begin with.

“If you look over the player voting, I don't really think it was taken that serious. I think some people do make it a joke, but it's alright, no big deal… I don't care what another player thinks about me.”

While the reigning Defensive Player of the Year's comments may indicate a bit of saltiness, they certainly carry plenty of truth. Little-known players like Semi Ojeleye, Cedi Osman, and Royce O'Neale were among the names that were anonymously cast in the player vote.

That said, it seems the players are having a bit of fun with the new All-Star format. Unfortunately for the Warriors forward, he is amongst those that could have capitalized big on an honest vote. However, he will now have to wait and see which team picks him up as a potential reserve.
