Klay Thompson entered Monday night’s showdown with the Chicago Bulls on an uncharacteristic shooting slump. The Bulls were hoping Thompson would continue to struggle to find his stroke. Instead, Chicago became the backdrop of the best 3-point shooting performance in a single game in league history when Thompson knocked down 14 treys to set a new NBA record in a 149-124 win.

Everyone was left impressed by Thompson’s shooting clinic in Windy City, including teammate and Golden State forward Kevin Durant, who also joked about the shooting guard deciding to don a headband while in the middle of a pursuit of an NBA record, per Anthony Slate of The Athletic.

Klay Thompson would finish the game with 52 points on 18-for-29 shooting from the field. He went 14-for-24 from deep and added five rebounds and a steal in just 27 minutes of floor duty. As for Kevin Durant, he only had 14 points, but he was never really pressured to get buckets with Thompson spewing fire from almost every spot on the court.

Thompson opted to wear a headband to cover a bleeding forehead, but that obviously didn’t stop him from shooting the lights out against a Bulls team that didn’t put much of a fight.

Will Klay keep or ditch the headband? We’ll see about that when the Warriors take on the New Orleans Pelicans this coming Wednesday.
