Jordan Bell spoke for the first time since being suspended by the Golden State Warriors for what they deemed as “conduct detrimental to the team,” taking a game's check (short of $10,000) away from him in the process.

The second-year big man spoke with Logan Murdock of NBC Sports Bay Area, reflecting on his last few days since the news went viral:

“Hectic, learning experience and kind of funny at the same time,” said Bell. “You see the power of the internet, social media, all the stupid stuff they put out there. People making assumptions and things like that with the situation.”

Bell was at first rumored to have charged an item from a hotel to assistant coach Mike Brown, who later was alerted of the situation, taking offense to the matter. A Twitter investigation turned out that it was a $15 candle and a prank that Warriors players had grown used to doing with rookies to kill the monotony of a long season.

Asked for his version, Bell was wholeheartedly apologetic.

“I made an error of judgment and I thought I was doing something funny, and it wasn't,” he said. “But I apologized to the individuals involved and I hope to continue to move forward from this mistake.”

According to Murdock, Bell purchased two items, worth a combined $60, and charged it to the room of assistant coach Mike Brown during the team's stay in Memphis prior to the Warriors' win over the Grizzlies.

His teammates were supportive of him, not making much of an incident that is unlikely to repeat itself over the course of his career:

“It's really not that big of a deal,” Andre Iguodala said. “It's a mistake, nobody was harmed, learn from it and make sure it doesn't happen again. You just have to have your antennas up as far as how your mind works. When you're young you can drift a little bit then you have to reel yourself back in and calm down. He'll be fine.”

Bell has yet to play since Saturday's 121-114 win over the Detroit Pistons, but is expected to get some floor time Friday when the Warriors take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
