Kevin Durant had his fun with the media prior to tonight's clash with the Charlotte Hornets, as reporters asked him about an “underrated guy” in Kemba Walker, a notion he shut down rather quickly.

“Nah, it's not like coming to the locker room, watching film and not talking about Kemba Walker,” said Durant. “I mean, he may be underrated to fans who don't know the game or you guys who don't even watch (smiles, then nods)— Yeah, that was a shot.”

“But yeah, in the locker room, any locker room when you're playing against the Hornets for the past… five years — Kemba Walker is the head of the snake and you gotta try to do a good job of cutting that off.”

The media took his joke in good humor, given his sincere reasoning for giving the Hornets' floor general his due praise.

Walker got his first All-Star nod last season, after averaging career-highs of 23.2 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. This season, his scoring average is at 22.7, but he's racking up a career-high 6.3 assists per game, finally regaining a healthy starting lineup to play with.

The Hornets will be without head coach Steve Clifford for the foreseeable future, but will still present a threat to the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors on their own home floor.
