Klay Thompson is right on the brink of his return to the Golden State Warriors lineup. When you're this close to getting back on the court, a mix of anxiety and excitement definitely starts to creep in.

Former Warriors star Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry's first Splash Brother before Klay Thompson arrived, was vocal on the returning All-Star. He cited his infamous injury incident back in the beginning of the 2008-09 season, when he hurt his ankle riding a moped.

Via Tristi Rodriguez of NBC Sports Bay Area:

“I know sometimes it gets frustrating when you really, really [want to play], like my moped accident,” the former Wariors guard said.

“Like to me, I was ready three months before they actually let me play the first game. Me and the organization had a little head-butting with that situation because I was ready to play the game of basketball and they were like ‘Nah, we're just going to sit here and check you out’. It's hard for me to watch it and I know it's hard for him to watch it.”

No athlete ever wants to be away from their sport for too long. For Monta Ellis, it was just a couple of months of recovery. But for Klay Thompson, who was at the height of his powers in Golden State before the injury, it's been two entire seasons which is not an recovery length experienced by most professional athletes.

“The only thing I can tell him is, just keep working hard, stay focused and not try to overdo too much to where you can set yourself back. Just keep working hard and get strong, you going to be all right,” Ellis said.

It's only a matter of time before Warriors fans can see Klay Thompson swishing threes once again. The hard part is over as he heads into the final stretch before his return.
