The Golden State Warriors have been having a rough go of it lately, having lost nine of their last 12 games. Most of those losses come since former All-Star guard Klay Thompson returned from injury. It's is ludicrous to think that that fact is anything more than a coincidence. But it is a fact nonetheless. Another fact, Thompson's infamous boat rides are making headlines.

As Yahoo Sports writer Chris Haynes reported, Thompson's boat rides are raising a ton of money for charity. During Thompson's rehab, he began taking boat rides and posting live on Instagram, talking about life and basketball, and even answering fans questions live. It has since grown into a part of a charity event.

Last month, during the Eighth Annual Warriors Charity Poker Tournament, the highest bidder earned a ride around the bay with Thompson in his boat. They also auctioned off a dinner at Miller & Lux, as well as the Warriors' owners floor seats for an NBA game.

Thompson then reportedly offered a boat ride to the second highest bidder, if they matched the winning bid. The winning bid for his boat ride ended at $250,000. So, the Warriors guard raised a half million dollars for the Warriors Community Foundation.

The event in total raised $2.5 million for charity. Who knew that Thompson's little boat rides while rehabbing would become something that could change people's lives. The funds raised by the Warriors organization will be used to fund grant programs to education and youth development in Alameda and San Francisco counties.
