Raise your hand if you're raring to see Klay Thompson play again!
Well, it seems Golden State Warriors rookie James Wiseman is eagerly raising his hand like a kid excited for Show & Tell in school.
Wiseman, like the rest of the NBA, is thrilled for the impending return of Thompson, who has sat out two straight seasons because of serious injuries. The 20-year-old Wiseman has seen Thompson's road to recovery and he has been nothing but impressed (via NBC Sports Bay Area).
“Man, Klay is a competitor. The dude's mentality is on a whole nother level. Klay is a great guy off the court, but he is also just like a monster on the court. Like his mentality is just different. So, Klay is just a great player, he is going to come back stronger, and I just can't wait to play with Klay. It's going to be fun.”
The return of the sweet-shooting Thompson, a career 19.5 points per game scorer, could make things easier for Wiseman, who had a rocky rookie season. Thompson will surely attract defenders from the perimeter, giving Wiseman more room to operate inside. The second overall pick in last year's NBA Draft was largely inconsistent and missed several games due to injuries and COVID-19 protocols. He did not earn a nod to the All-NBA Rookie Teams.
Warriors fans are dying to have Thompson back, especially after missing the NBA Playoffs for the second straight year. But judging James Wiseman's comments, it shouldn't come as a surprise if Klay Thompson unleashes the monster in him. A monster who can stroke it.
