Golden State Warriors forward Marquese Chriss is making sure his team's absence from the bubble doesn't stop him from adding to the social commentary with regards to the unequal treatment of the police force towards BIPOC.

The 23-year-old retweeted a video posted by civil rights attorney Ben Crump of an incident in Elk Grove, CA where a police officer allegedly refused to hand a Black teenager a traffic ticket even if he was complying to all the officer's demands. Chriss, who was left irritated by the incident, didn't mince his words as he added a NSFW caption to his retweet.

The Elk Grove Police Department has already come out with their statement to shed some light on the incident.

The teenager's mother Stacy Harvey-Slocum, who can be heard in the video questioned the police officer for refusing to simply give her son the ticket even if her son, as she mentioned repeatedly, adhered to the officers' requests and protocols. The teenager in question, Tobias Eagle, allegedly ran through a traffic light which resulted in him being pulled over by the police officer.

Marquese Chriss echoed the statements of both Atty. Crump as well as Mrs. Harvey-Slocum challenging the police officer's intentions on taking her time and why she created a rather avoidable situation. Instead of easily issuing the traffic violation ticket and going about her duty, the officer in question held on to the suspect's documentation as she refused to give him the ticket and even called for backup. And this, per the NBA star seemed to create more conflict rather than simply diffusing or de-escalating the situation. Something we've been all too familiar with over the past few years.
