Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins had a career-high 16 rebounds in Game 4 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics on Friday, and so naturally, his teammates praised him. But not before Stephen Curry and Draymond Green poked fun at him.
In his podcast, Green shared their reaction in the locker room after Wiggins was informed that his 16 boards were his career-best. According to the Warriors vet, he and Curry couldn't help but joke about how long it took for the former no. 1 pick to grab that much rebounds in his career, with his previous high being 11.
“I was getting dressed, Steph was getting dressed, I think Wiggs was getting ready to shower and Raymond [Ridder] walks over and he’s like, ‘Yeah man, it’s your most rebounds in any game, your highest before that was 11.' Obviously, Steph isn’t going to say it so I’m always left to say it, but he immediately thought the same thing I thought,” Green shared, via NBC Sports.
“Steph looked up, and I said ‘Wow, Wiggs, that’s incredible, 16 rebounds, but we must tell you how pathetic that is that your previous high was only 11 rebounds' and Wiggs said ‘I know, man.' ‘But forget that, you got it done tonight brother! When we needed it the most and it was absolutely amazing.'”

To be fair, Andrew Wiggins struggled as one of the main options with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now that he's playing alongside Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson, there's a ton of load taken off him as he can now play his usual game without worrying too much about the results of the game if he didn't play well.
Wiggins has clearly been more comfortable playing with the Warriors, and that shows the impact he is making in the NBA Finals.
Hopefully, though, Wiggins continues to put up career numbers as he tries to win his first championship.
