The Golden State Warriors acquired Kelly Oubre Jr. in the offseason via trade. Star guard Stephen Curry knows a thing or two about the forward's playstyle and history. And he can tell that Oubre Jr. will help the Warriors big time in the upcoming season.

Curry appeared on The Game's “Damon, Ratto & Kolsky” on Wednesday where he shared his expectations on Oubre Jr. To recall, after spending three and a half seasons with the Washington Wizards, Oubre was sent to the Phoenix Suns via trade. He spent a season and a half over there and in the offseason, he was sent to the Oklahoma City Thunder. And in less than a week, he landed in Golden State.

Curry believes that being tossed around has fueled a fire in Oubre.

“I think he's hungry, man. Just in terms of what's been his experience the last two years in Phoenix and being bounced around in trades over this offseason. … Obviously it's his birthday today. He's still a young, fresh 25.”

Curry also observed how great of a defensive player Oubre is. This makes Oubre a great asset given that head coach Steve Kerr wants his team to become one of the best defensive teams in the league again.

“He's got amazing energy, amazing athleticism and his skill set with the ball in his hands will surprise a lot of people as a playmaker. And I think defensively … he's ready to kind of wreak havoc with [Andrew Wiggins] and with [Draymond Green] and [James Wiseman] and [Kevon Looney] and the like.”

Kelly Oubre Jr. will likely receive a good amount of playing time with Klay Thompson out. It remains a mystery how Kerr intends to utilize his skills. But given his desire to prove everyone wrong, it's a safe bet that Oubre will indeed make a tremendous impact.
