The Golden State Warriors were devastated to hear the news of Klay Thompson suffering a season-ending Achilles injury before the 2020 NBA Draft. Despite the dreadful news of Thompson's injury, Stephen Curry revealed what he told Thompson after his injury was confirmed.

“Be around the team as much as you can this season. We need you,” Curry told Thompson, according to The San Francisco Chronicle's Connor Letourneau.

When the news first broke of Thompson's season-ending ailment, Curry shared his emotional reaction. While his Warriors running mate won't be able to play in the upcoming season, Curry knows that Thompson will still keep a positive mindset during his recovery process.

“I know he was working hard to get back,” Curry said. “But he'll bring that same effort, commitment and focus to this rehab. We, as his teammates, have to have his back and try to be positive and uplifting through the whole process because it's tough. There's no denying that. He's young. He's got a lot of amazing years left. We believe that, truly and fully. I know he does.”

For years, Curry and Thompson have been the best backcourt duo in the NBA for the Warriors. However, a torn ACL in the 2019 NBA Finals forced Thompson to miss the entire 2019-2020 season.

Unfortunately, the two-way shooting guard will miss his second consecutive season for Golden State, creating a massive void on both ends of the floor. Nonetheless, Curry knows that Thompson will still play a crucial role on the team despite him not being in the lineup.
