When LeBron James joined the Los Angeles Lakers this past summer, everyone expected that they would be playing the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. After all, adding The King would make any team a conference finals contender.

The Warriors got even better by adding DeMarcus Cousins to a one-year, $5 million contract. They are a dynasty and have the best NBA team over the past four years. With that said, there's undoubtedly a good chance that Golden State and Los Angeles will butt heads once again come playoffs time.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr agrees to that and even acknowledged the massive improvement the Lakers had since LeBron James moved to Hollywood.

“There's a decent chance we could see the Lakers in the playoffs. They've gotten a lot better. … I think they're making good strides,” Steve Kerr told Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Lakers started the season slow and experienced  hiccups early on. The team lacked a true defensive big man and the addition of JaVale McGee over the summer isn't enough. However, with the acquisition of Tyson Chandler, resurgence of McGee and growth of Kyle Kuzma, the Purple and Gold turned into a legitimate threat in the Western Conference.

Entering their Christmas Day matchup, the Lakers are 19-14 on the season and are sitting fourth in the West. On the other hand, the Warriors are second with a 23-11 record.
