Draymond Green has been the subject of many criticisms during their Golden State Warriors’ Finals series. The long-time Dubs vet has been slammed for many things, from his lack of on-court production to his off-court comments to his podcast. Even after a resounding Game 4 win, Draymond still earned the ire of many fans.
However, those within the Warriors organization know just how valuable Draymond Green is to the team, including Steve Kerr. Kerr talked about Draymond’s impact in Game 4 against the Celtics. The coach insisted that the former DPOY winner was “brilliant” during the entire game. (via NBC Sports)
“Draymond’s Draymond. He’s going to bring it every night, and I think that’s something that maybe got lost the other night is how good he was, you know, down the stretch… He ends up the game with four steals, brilliant defensively. He did what we needed to do to win the game.

The biggest criticism of Green in the Finals has been his inability and/or unwillingness to score. The Warriors star is heralded as the glue of the offense due to his playmaking ability. So far during the series, though, the Celtics have dared Green to try and score on them. Unfortunately, Dray hasn’t been able to make them pay.
As Kerr would point out in the clip above, though, the Warriors don’t need Draymond to score for them. His true impact lies on the defensive side of the game. Whether it’s locking up Jaylen Brown in isolation or blowing up a set play, Green was disruptive all game long. The Warriors are hoping to get more of that version of Draymond in Game 5, where they look to take a commanding 3-2 lead.
