Good news and bad news. The good news? The Golden State Warriors are still no. 2 in the Western Conference. The bad news? Coach Steve Kerr is growing concerned.
The Warriors blew a huge lead over the Los Angeles Lakers last Saturday, allowing LeBron James to lead a rousing comeback in the fourth quarter en route to a season-high 56 points and a 124-116 win. The Lakers snapped their four-game losing skid while the Warriors extended their dry spell to four games. Stephen Curry and company have now also lost eight of their last 10 games.
Kerr was definitely not amused when he sounded off on their latest defeat, per the report of Ethan Sears of the New York Post.
“This has kind of been a pattern during this bad spell for us. We are not stepping on teams when they are down. We are making mistakes and allowing teams to hang around. And when you do that in this league, you’re dead.”
Since Draymond Green has been out, it's apparent that the Warriors have lost a large chunk of their fighting edge. Safe to assume, the former Defensive Player of the Year wouldn't have allowed the Lakers to stage a rally, much less give 56 points to LeBron.
Kerr has expressed his longing for Green, who remains out indefinitely due to a back injury. The veteran forward must be dying to return to the floor amid the Warriors' slump, knowing how much of a competitor he is. He will gladly step on any team.
