Golden State Warriors fans have watched their stars drop like flies to start the 2019-20 season.

Klay Thompson was already sidelined as he rehabs from a torn ACL. But then, Stephen Curry suffered a broken hand, and both Draymond Green (ligament damage) and D'Angelo Russell (sprained ankle) continue to miss time.

Somehow, the Warriors have almost instantaneously gone from perennial contenders, to a borderline playoff team, to a team forced to start a bunch of rookies.

However, not all is gloom and doom in San Francisco.

Second-round draft pick Eric Paschall has scored 59 points in his last two games, including a 34-point, 13-rebound performance against the Golden State Warriors. Yet for all of his offensive explosiveness, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr thinks that Paschall can be like P.J. Tucker on defense:

That comparison should come as high praise for Paschall. Just this summer, former Warriors star Kevin Durant said that Tucker was the toughest individual defender in the league:

Tucker has become the embodiment of an undersized forward that can guard multiple positions and rebound at a high level because of his physical frame. Through seven games, Tucker is averaging 6.6 rebounds.

Paschall has three inches on Tucker (6'8″), but he is similar in stature. The Warriors would certainly love for their second-round wonder to become a defensive stopper.

Golden State ranks last in the league in terms of defensive rating, and they are giving up over 120 points per game. With Green and Kevon Looney both out in the frontcourt, the Warriors need Paschall to add some toughness and versatility down low.
