Dr. Anthony Fauci is a huge fan of Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. I mean, who wouldn't be? The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who's been quite the busy man since last March when COVID-19 took center stage, still managed to find time to follow one of his favorite basketball players in Curry.

“Steph Curry is amazing,” Fauci said on ESPN's First Take. “His ability to shoot that basketball at 3-point range — I mean, I was at a game right here in Washington, DC when they were playing the Wizards, and it was unbelievable. He was taking shots from a couple of feet past halfcourt. And he missed, like, one out of 15. It was amazing, so I've gotta go with Steph. He's one of the most exciting players ever.”

Curry's range is definitely infectious and has been the biggest virus his opponents have dealt with over the past few seasons during his tenure with the Warriors.

President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser going with Steph isn't at all surprising. Curry, the two-time MVP, has been one of the best players in the league over the past few seasons with three shiny Larry O'Brien trophies to prove it and has become the face of the Warriors. The fact that Curry seems to be far from done only makes Fauci's decision even more sensible.

In the same interview, Dr. Fauci also mentioned that the Warriors guard is definitely part of his top-five list of favorite athletes which includes NBA Hall of Famer Bob Cousy, baseball legend Mickey Mantle, Washington Nationals' Max Scherzer, and two-time World Cup winner Mia Hamm. Dr. Fauci definitely knows his sports.
