The best basketball players in the world once were fans of NBA players of the past. Even Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and the late great Kobe Bryant, were inspired fans of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. The Golden State Warriors 2021 first-round pick, Moses Moody, revealed who's game inspired him growing up.

“When I was young, I watched a lot of Joe Johnson. He's from the city. He's from Little Rock. He came back every year and played in the Dunbar League. Y'all probably don't know what that is. It's a league back home. He came back every summer and put on tournaments around the city,” Moody told ClutchPoints.

Joe Johnson played 18 seasons in the NBA. He was a seven-time All-Star and was selected to an All-NBA team once. Johnson played over 1200 games and averaged 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Moody strives to have similar success early in his career with the Warriors.

If Moody can match or surpass the greatness of Johnson, he could expect a long prosperous career, which would be good news for Warriors fans.

“He was kind of the blueprint, and that was somebody I always looked up to and said when I make it, I want to be like him,” the Warriors rookie added.

In his rookie season, Moody has the opportunity to get on the floor early. Warriors All-Star Klay Thompson will miss games early in the season as he rehabs his Achilles. Productivity can lead to Moody remaining in the rotation even after Thompson returns. If things don't happen that way, it will only be a matter of time before it all clicks for the 19-year-old.
