The Golden State Warriors received some horrible news on Wednesday after it was revealed that star shooting guard Klay Thompson had sustained a leg injury. A new report has now emerged that the Dubs fear the five-time All-Star has sustained an Achilles injury.

Thompson is scheduled to have an MRI on Thursday.

To be clear, the severity of the injury has yet to be revealed and it is yet to be confirmed if it is really Klay Thompson's Achilles that got injured.

Thursday's MRI should provide a clearer picture of what the 30-year-old is dealing with, so at the moment, the Warriors have no choice but to hold their breath. Of course, the worst-case scenario would be an Achilles tear, which could require surgery. If it turns out to be the case, Thompson could be looking at another season on the sidelines.

This is a tough blow for both the Warriors and Thompson, who himself sat out the 2019-20 campaign due to an ACL injury he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals. He had more than a year to recover from the major setback, and the extended offseason for the Dubs provided the sharp-shooting star with a few extra months to get in top condition.

With that said, the recent injury is a terrible development and is obviously one of the last things the Dubs want to hear in terms of Thompson's road to recovery. Nonetheless, fans all still holding out hope that the MRI will reveal nothing more than a minor injury.

The Warriors added highly-touted 7-foot-1 center James Wiseman in the draft, using their second overall pick on the former Memphis standout. It was a great pickup for Golden State, as they seemed to have found their big man of the future in Wiseman.
