The “big surprise” that Ubisoft referenced in their Updates on the Roadmap article has finally arrived. Watch Dogs' new standalone game mode Legion of the Dead debuted alongside the game's big version 4.5 update today. However, Legion of the Dead can only be played by Watch Dogs Legion PC players, through Ubisoft Connect.

What is the Watch Dogs Legion Legion of the Dead Game Mode?

Watch Dogs Legion Legion of the Dead game mode is a new standalone game mode for PC players of the game. Connect through Ubisoft Connect and play with your friends or queue up with up to three strangers. The objective of Legion of the Dead is to survive the zombie apocalypse in London. The Zombie Outbreak gave both Albion soldiers and Clan Kelley enforcers to horde resources. You and your crew will have to take those resources to help you survive. Hence, you'll have to scavenge every nook and cranny for these valuable materials or get past the guards to gain access to larger stashes. All the while, you'll have to evade zombies and Albion soldiers. It's you and your crew against the world.

For each session, you and your crew get dropped in a random spot in London, with each player randomly assigned a Survivor and a Gadget. Use the map to navigate the area and find resources. Gather enough and head to the extraction point to escape to safety. Gather more, and you get even more rewards.

Each Legion of the Dead session rewards players with Z-Creds. According to Ubisoft's blog post on the new game mode, “Z-Creds can then be used to prepare for your next supply run, allowing you to purchase powerful gadgets and weapons, some of which are only available for credits and cannot be looted as supplies.” Hence, the more resources you gather for each run, the better your next run will be.
