It is hard to argue for any member of the Washington Redskins to be a fantasy starter. If there is one, it is Adrian Peterson.

The Redskins will take on the New York Jets in Week 11 and Peterson is a solid flex option for this game. The Redskins parted ways with Jay Gruden after an 0-5 start and named Bill Callahan as their interim head coach. Callahan, formerly the offensive line coach, made it clear that the Redskins were going to run the ball and get Peterson more involved. With a 1-8 record and trailing in every game, it is hard to establish a run game.

Peterson has 75 carries over the four games that Callahan has been the head coach. He has gone over 100 yards in two of those games and is averaging nearly five yards per carry. Peterson has just one touchdown on the season and it came in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. The Redskins will get Derrius Guice back from injury in this game but that does not mean that Peterson will be put on the bench.

In Week 1, Peterson was inactive as the Redskins planned to go with Guice as their primary back. In this game, Peterson should get the bulk of the carries as Guice is eased back into the lineup.

Peterson vs. Jets

The Jets have not been good at much this season. If there is one area where they have excelled, it is stopping the run. They have allowed 81.9 rushing yards per game which is the second-fewest in the league. The Jets are coming off a game against the New York Giants where they held Saquon Barkley to one yard on 13 carries.

So why would fantasy owners put Peterson in their lineup? There is a chance for him to get in the end zone. The Jets have not allowed many yards but they have allowed 10 rushing touchdowns this season. In fantasy, that is the biggest number to look at. Peterson is due for a game where he finds the end zone — maybe even twice.

The Redskins are one of the worst offenses in the league. They have not scored a touchdown since Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins but their dedication to Peterson has become clear. With Dwayne Haskins named the starter for the rest of the season, it is important to establish Peterson and take some pressure off their rookie.

This is an unwatchable game unless you are fans of either side. Both teams have been bad but there are some fantasy options on both sides. Peterson is at the top of that list.
