Over the past months, we have heard both current and former players alike talk about their favorite Kobe Bryant stories. Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall joined in on the fun, but as it turns out, his narrative involved former teammate Gilbert Arenas significantly — perhaps even more so than Bryant himself.

“My favorite Kobe story was my rookie year,” Wall said on a recent appearance on, Showtime's ‘All the Smoke' hosted by Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson  via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington. “We were going to play them in L.A. You know how're like ‘there's no way I'm about to play the Bean, like there's no way I'm about to play Kobe.' And I've got Gil on my team and Gil comes out there wearing Dolce and Gabbanas. No shoe strings, straps. Shoes, high-tops. So, I'm gonna play Kobe with a guy like Gil that doesn't care about nothing.”

That is actually more like a Gilbert Arenas story than a Kobe one, but it is still pretty hilarious nonetheless. There are a number of wild Arenas stories out there, and this is just another one added to the pile.

As for Wall, this current league suspension has given him more time to rehab his torn Achilles. The Wizards point guard has yet to make an appearance this season, and previous reports confirmed that we will not be seeing the 29-year-old take the floor this season. This is true even if the 2019-20 season returns from its lengthy hiatus.

Wall should be ready to go once the 2020-21 season commences. Since we all still have no idea when this will be, Wall consequently remains without a specific target return date. Whenever he's back, however, the Wizards star is ready to wreak havoc on the rest of the league.
