The injuries are continuing to pile up in the preseason games. During Sunday's game between the Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers, Sheldon Mac became the latest player to get hurt, after suffering what appears to be a torn Achilles, on a non-contact play.

After jumping to receive a pass, he landed awkwardly on his left ankle and immediately hobbled before going down. He needed to be carried off the floor by his teammates and was taken to their locker room.

It has now been reported that Mac will need to undergo an MRI to reveal the extent of his injury, according to Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

Mac was undrafted last year, but impressed the Wizards throughout the summer, leading to his signing then. He appeared in 33 games for them last season and also received multiple assignments in the G-League to gain more experience. He had high hopes of being a fixture in their lineup this coming season, especially with his continuous development, and his versatility on both ends of the floor. However, it appears like he will need to delay those plans for now.

Achilles injuries take a long time to recover from, and should it indeed be the injury he suffered; it will force him to be sidelined for possibly the entirety of the season. If there's any silver lining for Mac though, there have been a number of players who came back from it in the past, who can all serve as inspiration for him to also do the same.
