The Washington Wizards have not made shooting guard Bradley Beal available in trade talks, according to Zach Lowe of ESPN.
Beal currently has two years left on his contract with the Wizards. Washington has offered the All-Star guard an extension worth around $112 million. Beal has yet to inform the Wizards whether he will sign the extension or not:
Beal checks the age and fit boxes. Whether he has enough raw, supernova talent — Beal has made one All-Star roster and zero All-NBA teams — is something each suitor will have to decide based in part on who is already on its team (and if the Wizards ever make Beal available, which they have not, per sources).
Bradley Beal averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season for the Wizards while shooting 47.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent from beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Under his current contract, Beal will make $27.1 million next season and $28.8 million in 2020-21. The two-time All-Star can make more money next summer if he makes one of the All-NBA teams next season.
Wizards All-Star point guard John Wall is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season recovering from his Achilles tear. Washington wants to remain competitive in the wide-open Eastern Conference sans Wall, and keeping Beal allows them to do that.
