With John Wall now out through much of next season after tearing his Achilles tendon in his home on Tuesday, many feel that the Washington Wizards should blow it up and attempt to trade guys like Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr.
However, the Wizards are apparently still trying to make the playoffs, as they do not want to make any trades that will make them worse this season, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic.
No disrespect to the Wizards, but this seems like “How to Destroy a Franchise 101.”
Katz reports that Washington does not even want to trade Trevor Ariza, whom the team acquired from the Phoenix Suns in December.
The Wizards need to give up on the dream they have of contending, because it is not going to happen anytime soon.
They peaked in 2017 when they took the Isaiah Thomas-led Boston Celtics to seven games in the second round of the playoffs and have done nothing but decline ever since.

What the Wizards should be doing is clearing money and trying to accumulate young talent and draft picks for a rebuild, but, for some reason, they want to continue in this endless cycle.
Beal and Porter would certainly draw considerable interest on the trade market, as would Ariza, who, given his expiring contract, would certainly be the easiest player to move from that group.
But, the Wizards are still holding on to the hope that they can make the playoffs.
