Liz Cambage is heading to sunny Los Angeles. On Saturday night, the Australian superstar shocked many WNBA fans by signing with the Sparks. Ramona Shelburne was the first one to report this signing for ESPN.

Cambage has been one of the WNBA's biggest stars, and one of it's most vocal critics. She notably left the league to play in China for five years, before joining the Dallas Wings in 2018. Since then, she was traded to the Las Vegas Aces, where she played a critical role on their Finals run before losing in the championship round.

Cambage's decision to leave the Aces for the Sparks comes as a surprise, given Las Vegas' current roster. With former Rookie of the Year A'Ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, and Dearica Hamby, they looked poised to make a huge run to the WNBA Finals. Signing former Aces legend Becky Hammon as their head coach seemed like the icing on the cake.

Now, Cambage will compete with a Los Angeles Sparks team full of talent. In particular, the ex-Aces center will form a formidable twin tower duo with WNBA legend Nneka Ogwumike. The Sparks have reloaded with some new talent, and they will look to make it back to the Finals after missing the postseason completely last season.

On the other hand, this is a huge blow for the Aces, who will lose their primary star alongside Wilson. It will be interesting to see who the management picks up, as they are looking to build upon a strong 2021 campaign. It will be tough for them, but with the right pieces, they can still make it deep in the WNBA playoffs.
