Diana Taurasi is one of the biggest performers on the basketball court in the history of mankind. The Phoenix Mercury star is considered by many to be the greatest WNBA player of all-time.
Her exploits in the clutch need no introduction for even the most casual of hoops fans. When the game is on the line, it's like she freezes the game at her fingertips.
Well, the game literally froze when Taurasi hit this clutch bucket to put her team ahead with seconds left to play.

That's some next level of cold-bloodedness from Taurasi, but nothing out of the ordinary for her I suppose. Fans were understandably confused after the stoppage though, which took ages for the refs to figure out.
diana taurasi just hit like maybe a buzzer-beating 3-pointer???
who the hell knows because the clock just stopped mid-play????
the hell was that

Diana Taurasi just hit a maybe buzzer-beating game winner and the refs are using a hand-held stopwatch at the montior to figure out if she got it off in time. The clock was frozen in real time….

But don't worry, the referees eventually resolved the matter, with Taurasi's three-pointer being the bookend to a weird finish, 77-75. Truth be told, she had a rather pedestrian night from the floor. Taurasi did score 14 points, but only made three field goals out of 13 attempts. She did contribute in other ways, pulling down eight rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Diana Taurasi knew how to make it count, though. Her clutch shot was actually the second one of the evening, as Sabrina Ionescu hit her own game-winner for the New York Liberty against the Indiana Fever.
SABRINA IONESCU CALLED GAME!!! https://t.co/VjxDbr4okS
