Michigan Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard was issued a five-game suspension for his role in the fight with Wisconsin. Howard will now miss the rest of the regular season after the embarrassing incident at the end of Michigan's loss to the Badgers on Sunday. Following the news of his suspension, Howard issued a statement, as reported by Brendan Quinn of The Athletic.

Juwan Howard said that he realizes how “unacceptable” his actions and words were. The Wolverines head coach offered apologies to all the players and staff and his own family before offering a personal apology to Badgers' assistant Joe Krabbenhoft.

Howard summed up his apology by saying that he often speaks about being “a Michigan man” and representing the university the right way. The Wolverines coach acknowledged that he didn't do that in any way, shape or form with his actions and promised that the mistake would never happen again.

He sounds as if he deeply regrets his actions in the Michigan-Wisconsin fight and realizes the extent of those actions. Howard will be criticized-and rightfully so– for what he did at the end of the game, though he should be commended for taking the right steps to move forward after the incident.
