Another much-anticipated Sha'Carri Richardson vs. Shericka Jackson showdown on the track had to take a backseat on Sunday.

Richardson withdrew from the women's 100-meter dash at the London Diamond League that day. She sustained a sore hamstring during warmups, per Track Gazette's Oluwadare.

Richardson decided not to participate as a precautionary measure for the World Athletics Championships next month, per BBC Sports (via The Dallas Morning News).

The Ivory Coast's Marie Josee Ta Lou took first place in the London Diamond League's 100-meter dash with a time of 1.075 seconds on Sunday. Hometown favorite Dina Asher-Smith and Jackson placed second with times of 10.85 seconds and 10.94 seconds, respectively.

Sha'Carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson, the pride of Jamaica, have competed against each other several times in the past. Richardson's 10.76 seconds narrowly beat Jackson's 10.78 seconds in the Diamond League in Silesia, Poland one week ago.

Prior to the Diamond League event in Poland, Richardson strung together several impressive wins in previous months. She emerged victorious in the 2023 Miramar Invitational on April 8.

Sha'Carri Richardson won the 100-meter event with a time of 10.76 seconds at the Diamond League in Doha, Qatar one month later. It was her biggest triumph since her Tokyo Olympic Trials three years ago. It was also Richardson's biggest international race victory to date, per NBC Sports (via The Dallas Morning News).

Richardson won first place at the 100-meter event of the USA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, OR earlier this month.

“Now, I stand here with you again and I'm ready mentally, physically, and emotionally,” she said at the time (via The Associate Press). “I'm here to say, ‘I'm not back – I'm better.'”
