Former women's world tennis #1 Naomi Osaka reacted to the Peng Shuai controversy following sexual assault allegations made against a member of the Chinese Communist Party.

Naomi Osaka took to twitter to share her thoughts.

Peng Shuai is one of the biggest tennis stars in China. She leveled accusations against a former senior Chinese official of sexual assault. She posted a lengthy statement on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website. Soon thereafter, the country's internet censors tried erasing any mention of the statement online.

Peng claimed that she was assaulted during an otherwise consensual affair with top Chinese official, Zhang Gaoli. Gaoli was a former vice premier was one of the country’s most powerful officials behind President Xi Jinping.

Peng Shuai has not been seen from or heard from since November 2nd. This prompted tennis star Naomi Osaka to post in unison with her and her family.

“Censorship is never OK at any cost. I hope Peng Shuai and her family are safe and OK… I’m in shock of the current situation and I’m sending love and light her way.”

Osaka joined many athletes and others on social media wondering what happened to Peng Shuai. Shuai is one of the best women's doubles players in the world. She was a part of the doubles team that won back to back doubles titles at Wimbledon and the French Open in 2013 and 2014.

The question remains what happened to Peng Shuai?
