The Houston Astros visited Yankee Stadium to face the New York Yankees for the first time since it was discovered that Astros players stole signs and transmitted them to their hitters by banging on a trash can. The Yankees won over the Astros, 7-3, to move up to 15-14 this season, but the game would not be without New York fans who would remind the visiting team of the scheme that they used to win the 2017 title.

One of them was David Taub, who wore an Oscar the Grouch costume and carried a sign taunting the Astros about sign-stealing. Taub bought the costume on Amazon and visited Yankee Stadium a few days before and received confirmation that he would be allowed to wear the costume when he attended the game. However, on the day of the game, he was not allowed in the stadium, with a security guard reportedly telling him that their policy had changed, according to Sports Illustrated.

The guard also reportedly told Taub that the Astros had complained to MLB about how they were treated by fans in other cities, and the league told the Yankees to tighten their rules regarding costumes and signs for their fans.

Taub removed the costume and was eventually able to watch the game between the Yankees and Astros from the left-field bleachers, where they continued to taunt the Astros players with signs and chants along with other fans.

He may have not been able to wear the Oscar the Grouch costume to the stadium during the game, but Taub, and other Yankees fans, will likely continue to let their voices be heard whenever the Astros visit their stadium.
