Not much is going right for the New York Yankees this season, who are on track to miss the playoffs. But, at least they have a potential star for many years to come in Anthony Volpe.

While Volpe was hitting just .216 coming into Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers, he smacked his 20th home run and in the process, set a franchise record. He's the first Yankees rookie ever to go deep a minimum of 20 times and also swipe at least 20 bags. Via TheScore:

An oppo taco for Volpe, who showed his power to the right field in the top of the ninth. Although there were some learning curves for Volpe in his first big league campaign, he's been swinging it a lot better in recent weeks. The former first-round pick is batting .278 in his last 15 games with four home runs and 11 RBI. Defensively, Volpe has made 12 errors thus far in 23′, which is respectable for 131 contests played.

The Yankees certainly have a special talent on their hands who showed his ability to hit for power and be a menace on the basepaths. With Anthony Volpe, Gerrit Cole, Aaron Judge, and Gleyber Torres, there are four players whom the organization can surely build around. However, the hope is New York can bounce back in 2024 and be a whole lot more consistent, especially offensively. That's been a major issue all year long, with or without Judge.

We'll also have to see if any of these prospects like Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells can make an impact in the show.
