New York Yankees outfielder Miguel Andujar reportedly requested a trade from the team last week. This came after Yankees manager Aaron Boone informed him that he would be optioned to the team's Triple-A squad in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders for the third time this season.

Since then, Andujar has remained in the Yankees organization despite his call to be traded.

According to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman, the Yankees have touched base with the versatile outfielder and notified him that they have “tried” to find a suitor for him. However, the offers that the current AL East leaders have received for him “haven’t been good enough.”

Andujar was called up by the Yankees in late May, and he played in 10 games before being optioned earlier this month. He hit .250 and recorded three RBI over the contests.

Andujar reported to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders this past week and has since featured at third base, left field and as a designated hitter for the team. He boasts a .288 batting average to go along with five home runs recorded in 30 games played for the Yankees’ Triple-A side so far in the season.

Overall, Andujar has two options left in the 2022 campaign. It remains to be seen whether Boone, who noted that the decision to send him down to the minors for the third time was a “difficult one,” will opt to call him up before the All-Star break.
