The Boston Celtics on the 4th of July produced some major fireworks of their own by landing free agent All-Star forward Gordon Hayward.

This offseason addition has already greatly impacted the Celtics' championship odds in the eyes of the betting world putting them with the third-best odds tied alongside the San Antonio Spurs to win the NBA title next season.

It's a huge jump as it counteracts the moves that the Houston Rockets made to add All-Star point guard Chris Paul prior to the start of free agency. According to Sports Odds History, the Celtics were behind the Rockets for the fourth-highest betting odds on June 30, a day before the start of free agency.

Hayward brings to the table another proven scorer to join forces with All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas, who is coming off his breakout season finishing third in the league in scoring with 28.9 points per game. Meanwhile, Hayward also had his best individual campaign where he averaged a career-high 21.9 points with 5.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game helping him earn his first All-Star Game selection.

Ultimately, The Celtics are now the clear-cut challengers to possibly dethrone the Cleveland Cavaliers next season.
