After a heartbreaking overtime loss in Game 1, the Miami Heat are going back to the drawing board against the Milwaukee Bucks. The game came down to a Khris Middleton go-ahead basket with 0.5 seconds remaining in overtime. Despite the loss, Miami should still be very confident going into Game 2.

Game 1 was an intense, grind-it-out matchup that went down to the wire. Heat star Jimmy Butler was able to make a driving layup to force overtime after struggling with his shot all game. Unfortunately, the Heat were not able to finish the job in overtime thanks to Middleton's heroics.

The Heat were led by Goran Dragic, who scored 25 points off the bench. His performance was followed up by Duncan Robinson pitching in 24 points with seven 3-pointers made. Despite their two stars in Butler and Bam Adebayo not shooting the ball well (8-of-37 combined), Miami still competed at a high level.

Here are three adjustments for the Heat against the Bucks heading into Game 2.

1. Controlling the paint

It is important that Miami does not allow Milwaukee to get easy points inside. The Bucks are a team that can thrive on the inside if they’re allowed to get down there and score easy baskets. Players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez were able to get good looks inside for much of the game.

In Game 1, Milwaukee scored 56 points in the paint to just 24 for Miami. The biggest factor for the Heat is surrounding Giannis around the rim as they did in last year’s series. Forcing him to become a perimeter threat is what will go into Miami's favor in this series. Antetokounmpo shot just 10-of-27 from the field in Game 1 and really struggled outside the paint, but he was still able to score too much inside.

Adebayo is an excellent defender of Giannis, but the Heat are rather small outside of him. Dewayne Dedmon did get 12 minutes off the bench, but he wasn't all that effective. Miami could use better minutes from him.

2. Allow Bam Adebayo to dominate

For the Heat to win this series, their star players need to dominate. After an awful 4-of-15 shooting afternoon, Adebayo is looking to bounce back. The Heat should prioritize having the ball in his hands so he can find a rhythm on the offensive end.

Adebayo is an energetic guy who can often set the tone with his play on the floor. His Game 1 performance showed that he has to have the ball in his hands more often in order to be a difference-maker, and he needs to look for his offense more when defenders are sagging off him. Adebayo becoming more aggressive to score can potentially change the dynamic through the rest of the first round.

3. More production from other contributors

Erik Spoelstra used nine players in Game 1. Dragic had a big game off the bench with his team-leading 25 points, but the Heat didn't get much else from the other reserves.

The main player who needs to step up is Tyler Herro. After a fantastic postseason in the bubble last year, Herro has had his difficulties finding a consistent rhythm all season. The youngster had 10 points on just 2-of-10 shooting in Game 1 and played only 19 minutes. Miami needs more from him in Game 2.

It will also be interesting to see if Spoelstra turns to anybody else. Could Nemanja Bjelica be an option to get a little more size and shooting out there? We'll see what Spo does.
