PSG assembled one of the best attacking trios in the world this summer. Neymar and Kylian Mbappe were already there, but they were joined by Lionel Messi.

Though they looked unbeatable on paper, the field uttered a different story for PSG. They were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in the Round of 16 by Karim Benzema's 17-minute hat trick. After the game, Neymar reportedly almost had a fight with Gianluigi Donnarumma, casting even more doubt on his future with PSG.

If the Brazilian striker indeed leaves Paris, here are his three most optimal landing spots.

Best destinations for Neymar

Barcelona

When he left Barcelona in 2017, Neymar apparently did it to escape Messi's shadow. It turns out that Messi's shadow doesn't loom so large, though, as Neymar produced his most European success with the Argentine in Catalonia. Apparently, he missed Barcelona so much that he pushed heavily in 2019 to return to Spain amid a lot of internal drama with PSG.

In the end, PSG did not want to lose a ton of money on the transfer, and Neymar even agreed to extend his PSG contract until 2026. Yet, nothing seems so simple for Paris after their staggering defeat to Real Madrid, as they will likely lose Mbappe and possibly even Messi. If Neymar is ever going to return to Barcelona, the time is now.

However, that is not only due to all the issues of the French club. It is also due to the fact that Barcelona is building something special of which Neymar would like to be a part. The new crop of youngsters coming out of La Masia is going to fill out the midfield with talent, while the attacking side is somewhat behind. They do have Ansu Fati, but Neymar could cover the right flank and the middle, giving them an option to have an experienced forward in a sea of young players.

Neymar loves Barcelona and that is evident to everyone involved. As his career goes downhill a bit, he might prefer comforts of the known to again joining another club.

Manchester United

This just seems like a match made in heaven. Neymar is exactly the type of player that we can see the Glazers, the family that owns Manchester United, buying to appease angry Red Devils fans. Additionally, the type of marketing profit that Neymar brings to any club, especially paired up with Cristiano Ronaldo, would see the team pull out massive financial gain.

However, bringing in Neymar would also and most importantly make sense on the pitch.

With Edinson Cavani likely leaving Manchester United in the summer, they will need a new forward. Jadon Sancho has the right flank covered and Ronaldo is untouchable in the middle, so Neymar just might be the guy to cover the left side, his preferred position. Additionally, any top player would be excited to try playing in England. There are other teams in the EPL that can afford him, including rumored suitor Newcastle, but after playing with Messi, Neymar might be enticed by teaming with Ronaldo as well.

Juventus

The third team on this list has been a struggle, as there are not many teams that can afford Neymar that also need him. However, one team that can afford and use the Brazilian is Juventus.

The Old Lady has struggled last season and started slow this year, but they have been great in 2022. A major issue they have is their left flank, which is occupied only by Alex Sandro, playing in the 3-5-2 formation preferred by coach Max Allegri. If they were to get Neymar, however, they could switch it up, putting Sandro in the backline outright and creating a strong attacking trio of Neymar, Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa. Also, due to their rich owners, Juventus could easily fund the transfer and pay the Brazilian star his wages.

With Neymar in the fold, Juventus could jump from a team that cannot get to the quarterfinals of the Champions League for three years straight to a team that can make noise in the biggest European club competition. That was Juventus' thinking in 2018 upon bringing in Ronaldo, but they were doomed by a terrible midfield. They have made substantial investments in the middle, so adding an impact player like Neymar could be the final piece to Juventus getting their first Champions League title in over 25 years.
