The Cleveland Browns previously completed a subpar campaign after they settled on an 8-9 record to miss the playoffs this time around. Odell Beckham Jr.'s fallout with the team as well as Baker Mayfield's injuries and on-field struggles all contributed to their woes in 2021.

After a disappointing season, they will definitely have to go back to the drawing board and address the holes on their roster. Currently, they have around $19 million in cap space available in order to bring in reinforcements that can help turn things around for them. The Browns are hoping that the changes that they will bring to the table will be enough for them to finally live up to the expectations of being a playoff contender in the AFC next season.

With that said, here are the three best players that the Browns can target in the upcoming NFL free agency.

Cleveland Browns Free Agency Targets

3. Allen Robinson II

After the departure of Odell Beckham Jr., the Browns were left with a shallow depth of receiving weapons led by Jarvis Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and David Njoku. A talent that they can take a look at would be Allen Robinson from the Chicago Bears.

He was once a Pro Bowl-caliber talent but his level of play has significantly regressed through the years. Robinson also didn't mesh quite well with rookie QB Justin Fields as he only received 66 targets on 410 yards and a touchdown in 12 games played.

Moreover, a hamstring injury forced him to miss action in several games which also contributed to his career-low production in 2021. It surely wasn't the best scenario for Robinson to be in, especially upon entering free agency in the upcoming offseason.

With that said, the Browns would be an ideal destination for him to revive his career and get back on track in the near future. Here, he will be in a good position to contribute and will be able to get his fair share of touches on a weekly basis. With the right amount of opportunities, the 28-year-old can still emerge as a vital piece on offense, especially if his skill set can be maximized on the field.

Ultimately, Robinson's potential arrival will make the Browns a more complete team and will allow them to have a more potent passing game by having more scoring options on the field.

2. De'Vondre Campbell

Linebacker De'Vondre Campbell has definitely played beyond the one-year, $2 million contract that he signed with the Green Bay Packers for the 2021 season. He saw an improvement in his numbers across all major statistical categories and concluded his campaign with 146 combined tackles, two sacks, and a couple of interceptions in 16 games played.

Campbell's level of production eventually earned him the first All-Pro selection of his career. Currently, the Browns already have a solid linebackers group headlined by a couple of youngsters in Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and Anthony Walker Jr.

However, they can still look to acquire Campbell who can mentor the younger guys and eventually emerge as the veteran leader of the group. On the field, he has already shown that he excels in tackling and making downhill plays. Additionally, he is also durable as he has yet to encounter a major injury in his career thus far.

At 28 years old, De'Vondre Campbell is still bound to improve and will surely elevate the Browns' defense if he manages to do so moving forward.

1. Harold Landry III

The Browns have gained a valuable contributor in defensive end Jadeveon Clowney who signed a one-year, $7 million contract in 2021. Now set to be an unrestricted free agent, the Browns surely have interest in bringing him back for another tour of duty.

However, he is also expected to attract the interest of several teams that will be looking to acquire his services after a solid campaign. Given the situation, there is no certainty that the former top pick will be brought back which is why the Browns can go after Harold Landry if he doesn't receive the franchise tag from the Tennessee Titans.

The Boston College product played the best season of his career with 75 combined tackles, 22 QB hits, and 12.0 sacks in 17 games played. His career-best numbers also earned him his first Pro Bowl nod thus far. At the age of 25, the sky is the limit for Landry who is only scratching the surface of his full potential on the field.

Surely enough, pairing him with another special talent in Myles Garrett will cause a ton of problems for opposing teams next season. If the Browns manage to snag him then their defensive front will definitely be hard to stop for the years to come.
