The Pittsburgh Steelers have transitioned fairly well into life without longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers didn't swing for the fences with a trade on the quarterback market, instead opting to bring in free agent signal-caller Mitchell Trubisky. Trubisky, who signed a two-year deal with Pittsburgh, figures to be more of a bridge option until the franchise can find their quarterback of the future. Their future signal-caller could be one of the many prospects available in the 2022 NFL Draft. Armed with the 20th pick, the Steelers are in a good position to find their successor to Roethlisberger. Or Pittsburgh could infuse some young talent on the defense in a draft filled with many young prospects. General manager Kevin Colbert tabbed safety as a position where a starter is needed, though the Steelers have an aging defensive line that could also use some youth. Pittsburgh has plenty of options once they're on the clock. Here are the three best players the Steelers can select with the 20th pick in the NFL Draft.

3 Best Players The Steelers Can Select With 20th Pick In NFL Draft

3. Malik Willis

It's unlikely that Malik Willis makes it as far as the 20th pick, with quarterback-needy teams such as the Carolina Panthers lurking inside the top-ten picks. However, crazier things have happened in past drafts. If given the chance to pick Willis, the Steelers should pounce and let him sit the year behind Trubisky. The Liberty product threw for 2857 yards with 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, though he also offers another element. Willis excels with his legs, as he ran for nearly 900 yards on the ground with 13 scores. The NFL is moving towards dual-threat quarterbacks and the Steelers don't want to get left behind. Willis would give them a dynamic option for the future at quarterback.

2. Daxton Hill

The Steelers could use a safety, the position that Daxton Hill primarily played at Michigan. However, Pittsburgh could also use help at the cornerback spot- and Hill proved to be a valuable asset at that position, having spent time as a slot corner. Pittsburgh met with the Wolverines product, who could potentially be a versatile option for their defense. Hill could fill the role previously occupied by Terrell Edmunds, if the franchise ultimately declines to bring the free agent back. While pick number 20 might be a tad early for the services of Hill, it's never a bad thing to reach for the right guy if the fit is good. Hill makes a lot of sense for the Steelers.

1. Devonte Wyatt

Devonte Wyatt comes from college football's best defense, the Georgia Bulldogs. Wyatt is a big defensive tackle who excels at stopping the run, an area where Pittsburgh struggled mightily this past year. The Steelers ranked dead-last in the NFL in rushing yards per game- and two of the three starters on the defensive line are past the age of 30. The Steelers desperately need some youth at the tackle spot and Wyatt fits the mold as a potential run-stopper who can start from day one.
