The Kansas City Chiefs took on the Tennessee Titans and played like one of the worst teams in the league. It was tough to watch as they couldn't get anything going. We'll be taking a look at the Chiefs-Titans game with our Chiefs Week 7 takeaways in mind.

It was an abysmal performance, as the Titans had their way throughout the entire game. Kansas City had no answer for anything, which is a rare sight to see. It's been odd watching this franchise so far, as something is just off right now. The Super Bowl slump is common for teams who lose the previous Super Bowl, and it may be in full swing in Kansas City.

Throughout this matchup, the running game couldn't get going. The Chiefs were forced to air it out as they fell behind quickly. On top of that, Kansas City couldn't even get the ball to their superstars, as a surprise receiver led the team in yards. Lastly, something is going on with Patrick Mahomes, as he doesn't look like himself. With that said, here are four Chiefs Week 7 takeaways from their matchup against the Titans.

Chiefs Week 7 Takeaways

3. The run game virtually didn't exist

Patrick Mahomes led the team in rushing with 35 yards on the day. As a team, they recorded just 77 total yards. The good news is that everyone averaged at least four yards per carry. The average was there, but due to the game script, the Chiefs had to steer away from the run game.

Due to the passing attack not meeting expectations, the coaching staff might want to consider switching up the offensive scheme for now. If the Chiefs make running the ball a focal point, it could relieve pressure off the offense and allow them to control the clock. We'll see what happens though, as being a run-first offense does not match the team's identity.

2. Byron Pringle, not Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce, led the team in receiving

Byron Pringle finished the day with five receptions for 73 yards. He actually had a decent day, but this was a part of why the Chiefs couldn't get anything rolling. Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce struggled throughout this contest, making it difficult for the offense to do much of anything.

This is an issue that must be addressed. We haven't seen Tyreek Hill dominate like he typically does, and Travis Kelce has failed to match his production from a year ago. We'll see how it plays out, but for right now, the Chiefs look to be in trouble. If they can right the ship immediately, they should be good. However, it doesn't seem to be in the cards.

1. Patrick Mahomes looks pedestrian

The former MVP and Super Bowl-winning quarterback has completely disappeared. Patrick Mahomes is nowhere to be seen in the 2021 NFL season as the Chiefs looked confused throughout most of the game against the Titans.

We'll see if the Chiefs can turn things around, but it all starts with their superstar quarterback. If Mahomes can't figure things out, then Kansas City could miss the playoffs altogether.
