The Kansas City Chiefs had a rough day against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Not only did they lose in embarrassing fashion, but Patrick Mahomes received a scary strike to the head late in the contest. He had to be helped off the field, but luckily, he was able to leave the game on his own will.

According to Ian Rapoport, Chiefs fans can take a sigh of relief, as Rapoport pointed out that since Mahomes was talking to reporters in the post-game interview, he has passed the concussion protocol.

Apparently, if a player has failed the concussion protocols they are not allowed to talk with media after the game. Since Mahomes was able to do that, then his injury is not nearly as serious as originally feared. This is great news for Kansas City, as Patrick Mahomes give the Chiefs their best chances of turning the season around.

It's been a rocky and confusing year so far, as the Chiefs don't look like their normal selves. The defense can't do anything, and Mahomes looks uncomfortable in the pocket. He's already thrown nine interceptions in just seven games, putting the team in a bad spot as we enter the midway mark of the season.

Even so, Mahomes should still be considered one of the best quarterbacks in the league. This is the same roster we've watched reach the Super Bowl two years in a row. There is plenty of time left in the 2021 NFL season, as they can turn things around at any moment.

For that to happen, Patrick Mahomes must be on the field. He's looked mediocre, to say the least, but he gives the franchise their best chances of turning things around. We're bound to see some changes though, as Andy Reid has to find a way to get things rolling. For now, Chiefs fans should at least feel relieved about Mahomes's injury status.
