The Utah Jazz have certainly been one of the more impressive teams in all of basketball the past couple of seasons but unfortunately haven't been able to get the job finished at the end of the year when it all matters and win an NBA title.

The Jazz team is filled with talent so there's no reason to think that they can't get over this tough hump. Utah is almost like last year's Milwaukee Bucks team as in they dominated in the regular season but just don't get over the playoff hump and don't win an NBA title. Milwaukee was finally able to get rid of that narrative as they were finally able to win an NBA title. The reality of this Jazz team is, they are much different than the Bucks because they don't have a guy like Giannis Antetokounmpo, even though Donovan Mitchell is an excellent player and can certainly be the number one option on a championship team.

They're going to be many things that the Jazz are going to hope for and need in the New Year so let's take a look at some New Year resolutions for this Jazz organization.

Jazz New Year's Resolutions

3. Get that second star

Donovan Mitchell is a heck of a player and to go back to the Milwaukee Bucks, they need to get that start to pair next to Mitchell. Khris Middleton is a great second option next to Giannis Antetokounmpo but he wasn't enough next to him. The Bucks decided to bring in Jrue Holiday and the rest is history as they won a title for the first time in 50 years. If the Jazz want to do this, they are certainly going to need to bring somebody in next to Mitchell because the Jazz just don't have a second star. They do have a bunch of very good role players and Rudy Gobert is certainly in a league of his own in terms of rim protection and defense, but they don't have that second guy who can take over a game at any moment and that's certainly something that is needed in the playoffs to win a title.

If the Jazz want to have any success in the next few seasons, they're going to need to finally go out and get that second star. Whether it be another guard who can be paired next to Donovan Mitchell and scored 25 plus points per night or going out and getting an elite scoring weapon that can play the forward position and just dominate the game like many elite forwards do in today's game. They certainly have enough trade assets considering that they have one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Sometimes it is necessary to get rid of that depth and if they're going to get a second star then that's exactly what the Jazz need to look to do if their team fails to win another title this season.

2. Get over the hump

As unfortunate as it sounds, anything that the Jazz do in the regular season doesn't really mean much to the NBA world because they have done this for the past few seasons. All of their success is going to be based on if they can continue playing high-level basketball towards the end of the season and in the playoffs, which they failed to do in recent memory. They have been great in the regular season and that's certainly an aspect of a good team. At the end of the day, none of it really matters if you do not walk away with NBA title and the Jazz have failed to do that.

They're going to need to try their best to get over that hump this season as they certainly have enough talent and the team to win an NBA title. They have looked great so far this season and are once again one of the best five teams in all of basketball.

1. Deliver when it matters

Although the Jazz have found plenty of success in the regular season for the past few seasons, they continuously fall short in the playoffs and usually lose early on during the playoffs. For a team that has as much talent as they do and as dominant as they are in the regular season, it's always unfortunate to see them go down in the playoffs but they eventually just run out of gas and can't get the job done when they go up against some good teams. Last year might have been the worst one yet as they lost to a Clipper team at that did not have Kawhi Leonard and once again were knocked out of the playoffs early when it mattered most.
