The Kansas City Chiefs were upset Sunday afternoon, losing to the Cincinnati Bengals 27-24 in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium. In the loss, they blew a 21-3 lead in the second quarter. It's tied for the second-largest lead blown in NFL playoff history.

The Chiefs' offense was moving the ball at will during the first half. Their first three possessions ended in touchdowns. Their fourth drive finished ended at the Bengals' one-yard line, taking the game to halftime.

Kansas City's season has ended in heartbreak now for the second consecutive year. Some changes need to be made for this team to take home the ultimate prize again.

Chiefs fixes needed to win Super Bowl LVII

3. Second wide receiver opposite Tyreek Hill

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense are easily one of the best, if not the best, offenses in football. But there has been a glaring hole that the team has been looking to fill for a few years now. They need a wide receiver to line up opposite Tyreek Hill.

They tried filling that hole previously with Sammy Watkins. Mecole Hardman and Byron Pringle have tried to fill that role, but their play has been inconsistent. At times, they look like game-changers who make big plays. Other times, they seem to disappear.

As teams begin to play more cover-2, with a safety over the top taking away Hill, the Chiefs offense desperately needs another receiver that can win one-on-one matchups.

2. A run-stuffing defensive tackle

The Chiefs' defense, on paper, is good. But games are not played on paper. The Buffalo Bills showed during the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs that this defense has some issues. The Bengals furthered that argument Sunday.

Even though the Bengals didn't run downhill on the Chiefs in the AFC Championship, throughout the season you could see that the interior of the defensive line needs work. Teams can line up and impose their will against Kansas City all too often. Even though that might not have been the reason the Chiefs lost in the title game this year, it very well could next year.

1. A defensive end that can rush the passer

The Chiefs' pass rush was inconsistent in 2021. Frank Clark and Chris Jones are both very good pass rushers. But they have battled injuries and inconsistency. Kansas City's defense could use an elite pass rusher off the edge.

Can you imagine how good Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense would be if their defense could consistently get off the field? Too many times, we have seen long drives against the Chiefs' defense. They finished 20th in the NFL this season in 3rd down defense. A lot of that is because they did not have someone coming off the edge that can change the game.
