Stop me if you have heard this before, the Cleveland Browns are coming off another disappointing season. The 2019 Browns did not live up to the extremely premature expectations that they had last offseason. That was because of many things, but for one thing in particular — the head coach.

Cleveland took care of the most important piece of business already. They parted ways with Freddie Kitchens after one season as head coach. That was a disastrous hire from the beginning and they are hoping they did not make the same mistake with Kevin Stefanski.

The Browns have a lot of work to do if they want to be a contender anytime soon. Since they cannot go back in time and un-draft Baker Mayfield, here are three other moves they must make.

3. Create Cap Space

The Browns have some contract extensions coming up quickly with players like Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi. They will need to part ways with some players making a lot of money like Olivier Vernon. He is slated to make $15.5 million next season. Vernon has been a solid pro for a long time, but he has dealt with injuries over the last few seasons.

The Browns need good players who can stay on the field. This is done in free agency and the draft. Cleveland must create cap if they want to rebuild their team.

2. Address Tight End

How long is Cleveland going to wait for David Njoku to take the next step? He played in all 16 games in his first two seasons and was decent, not great. He scored eight touchdowns and finished with 639 yards in his second season. Njoku played just four games last season and had five catches.

Njoku was a player often mentioned prior to last season when discussing why the Browns could have a dynamic offense. That was not the case. Cleveland will need to add depth at tight end whether Njoku is healthy or not.

1. Bolster the Offensive Line

This should be priority No. 1. Mayfield had a terrible season in 2019, but he was getting pressured on a regular basis. The Browns' offensive line allowed 41 sacks and finished as one of the worst in the league. They could contact the Washington Redskins once again about their All-Pro left tackle.

Trent Williams sat out last season for the Redskins. Throughout the season, the Redskins and Browns discussed possibilities with Williams, but nothing ever came to fruition. This is something that the Browns could look to re-visit. Adding the best left tackle in the league would be extremely beneficial for Mayfield and the entire offense.
