Although the San Antonio Spurs will be in Orlando, Florida for the resumption of the 2019-20 season, they face an uphill climb to reach the postseason for the 23rd consecutive season.

The Spurs are in 12th place in the Western Conference. They will have to battle it out with the Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans, Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns for the final playoff spot in the West.

San Antonio doesn't have good odds to make the playoffs since All-Star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge won't be playing in Walt Disney World due to shoulder surgery. However, the NBA hiatus was beneficial for three other Spurs players.

3. DeMar DeRozan

The Spurs' leading scorer, DeMar DeRozan is going to have to turn into Superman for the Spurs to make the 2020 playoffs. Although he's never suffered a major injury in his career, DeRozan does have a lot of miles on his legs.

With that said, DeRozan should be explosive and soaring above the rim for the Spurs at Walt Disney World since he's been off his feet for a while. The former Toronto Raptors star is averaging 22.2 points per game on the season.

2. Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray missed the entire 2018-19 season recovering from an ACL tear. The point guard appeared in 58 games for the Spurs in 2019-20 prior to Rudy Gobert's positive COVID-19 test. He was averaging 10.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists.

The extended time off must have been great for Murray's surgically repaired knee. Don't be surprised if you see the youngster looking extra bouncy and explosive at Walt Disney World. That's something the Spurs are banking on.

1. Rudy Gay

Like Murray, Rudy Gay has suffered a serious injury before. The swingman tore his Achilles while he was playing with the Sacramento Kings during the 2016-17 campaign.

Gay has recovered from his Achilles tear. However, Achilles' injuries are said to be the hardest to come back from. This NBA hiatus gave Gay more time to stay off his feet and let his Achilles tendon get some much-needed rest.

The former UConn star will never be the same high-flyer he used to be, but Gay is still a serviceable forward who can score buckets when needed. If the Spurs want to shock the world at Disney World sans Aldridge, they are going to need a fresh and productive Gay and that could happen since the veteran got an unexpected loaf period.
