The New England Patriots were able to come away with a commanding Week 17 win against a below-average Jacksonville Jaguars team, 50-10. This was the best that the Patriots have looked all season long and they did it at the perfect time because the playoffs are right around the corner.

Let's take a look at the four reasons why the Patriots were able to come away with such an impressive win against the Jaguars in Week 17.

Patriots Week 17 Takeaways

4. Got back on track

The New England Patriots came into this one on a two-game losing skid which isn't the worst thing in the world. When having a young quarterback running the ship, there are definitely some concerns when your team starts to lose due to his inexperience and potentially Jones not getting back on track.

Although this was just a win against arguably the worst team in all of football, a win is a win, especially in the NFL. The Patriots did a great job by getting back on track and doing exactly what they needed to do. Not only did they get back on track, but this could have arguably been the best that they have looked all season long. Everything was clicking for the Patriots and they're going to look to replicate exactly what they did on Sunday in the rest of the year and in the playoffs.

3. Offense was the best its looked with Mac Jones

No matter if they were playing the best team in football, or the worst team in football, which is what they were going up against, they are still doing that against an NFL team. No matter how bad a team is, they are still NFL players and are the best in the world at what they do for a reason.

The Patriots' offense was able to put up 50 points and did so from everybody contributing. Mac Jones threw for three touchdowns, Stevenson had two touchdowns, and Damien Harris also had two touchdowns.

2. Defense continues being one of the best in football

The reason that the Patriots have had so much success this season is because of just how elite their defense is. They had some down weeks before this game against the Buffalo Bills and the Indianapolis Colts, but they got back on track on Sunday as they only gave up 10 points and also held the Jaguars to only 253 total yards.

1. Playoffs are almost here, have to stay healthy

The biggest concern for this Patriots team is to make sure that everybody is going to stay healthy, especially the key pieces on the offensive side of the ball and all of the defense because their defense is that good.

The Patriots are going to have to go all out this week because the Bills and them are going to be playing for first place in the division. They are going up against a tough Miami team, but they have already lost to them this year and it would be unlikely that Miami does beat them twice in a year. The Dolphins are coming off an embarrassing loss against the Tennessee Titans, so their confidence is going to be low and the Patriots are going to jump all over them.
